It seems so much easier to pretend to be someone you're not, than to embrace the reality of your true being. It doesn't hurt as much to be hated for being fake, than it does to be hated for being you. Or at least that's how I once thought...Life isn't worth living fake. It's impossible to be liked and accepted by everyone. And although it sometimes seems easier to compromise in order to be "accepted", compromise of one's self is one of the biggest lies of all time. When you live behind a facade, you lose part of yourself. You slowly deteriorate your identity until you're nothing more than a convoluted conglomeration of other people's thoughts and opinions. Be real. Be genuine. Be you.
Granted, we all have room for improvement. Improvement, however, isn't acting the way someone else wants you to act. True growth happens when you strive to be the best YOU possible. Never give up on yourself; even when it seems as if everyone else could care less, continue on. Push yourself to try your hardest, go your farthest, and strive for excellence in all that you do. Don't settle for mediocrity just because it's what "the crowd" seems to be doing. In your journey towards excellence, you will find something far greater than mere companionship- you will discover a sense of self-worth and drive that surpasses anything you could ever imagine.
There is but one image we should strive to imitate. We were created in His image. He formed us in our mother's wombs, and knows our inmost selves. In all things, be true to who God has ordained for you to be. Walk in the truth of who you are called to be.
